LIGHT IS THE KEY TO HEALTHY EYES AND PERSONAL WELL-BEING<\/h2>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.18.0″ _module_preset=”default” header_2_text_align=”left” custom_margin=”||0px||false|true” custom_padding=”0px||0px||true|false” global_colors_info=”{}”]

Neuroscience has borne out our long-standing belief in what is a major research focus of our institute: light is the tool whose expressions of energy in all its myriad forms enables our visual system to repair damage induced by retinal neurodegenerative processes. It is also the conduit for eliminating visual impairments, as well as the preferred tool for certain corneal diseases. Retinal diseases, corneal diseases, and refractive errors are different eye problems that also have different origins but, all of them prevent the human eye from seeing accurately, thus affecting our quality of life.<\/p>\n

Refractive errors arise from the inadequate optical projection of light inside our eyes. When light rays from outside fail to focus on the retina but instead focus on the area in front of the retina, we use the term \u201cmyopia\u201d. Alternatively, the rays may be focused behind the retina: this is known as \u201chypermetropia\u201d.For the correction of myopia, hypermetropia, and astigmatism, SERI Lugano offers Femtolasik Lux\u00ae. For presbyopia this is in the form of the Pinelli Presby Profile\u00ae algorithm. Treatments are non-invasive involving the corneal surface and can be defined as “non-surgical”, since no scalpels, blades, cutting edges, or surgical instruments are used.<\/p>\n

For eye disorders originating from impaired retinal cells, such as age-related macular degeneration, PBM (PhotoBioModulation) according to the Lugano Protocol (see published papers) is the treatment of choice.<\/p>\n

Regarding keratoconus, which was once unfortunately only resolvable via corneal transplantation, it is possible to halt its evolution by transepithelial osmotic corneal crosslinking with ParaCel\u00e2. Treatments in all of these cases are rapid and pain-free, allowing the patient to go home the same day.<\/p>\n

I raggi luminosi provenienti da un oggetto non sono rifratti sulla cornea allo stesso modo, ma la capacit\u00e0 di messa a fuoco varia nei diversi punti.
