There are three branches of optics: geometrical optics, physical optics, and quantum optics. Physical optics is the branch of optics that studies the phenomena of interference, diffraction, polarization of light. It embraces all those phenomena for which the simplifying assumptions of geometric optics are not valid, but where it is necessary to resort to the description of the wave nature of light as electromagnetic radiation. Optics, however, constitutes a rather separate field from the physics communities; it possesses its own identity. The more strictly scientific aspects of the field are often subsumed under the terms Optical Science or Optical Physics, which nevertheless have marked interdisciplinary features with optical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, psychology, and medicine. The field of the optometric optician is an auxiliary art of the health professions. Optometric opticians possess skills in optics, optometry, contact lenses, and ophthalmology. They are familiar with the technical characteristics of optical instruments, and know how to use the equipment needed to measure visual acuity and to correct visual impairments, as well as the machinery used for cutting and grinding lenses. Esistono tre branche di ottica: l\u2019<b>ottica geometrica<\/b>, l\u2019<b>ottica fisica<\/b>\u00a0e l\u2019<b>ottica quantistica<\/b>. L'ottica fisica \u00e8 la branca dell'ottica che studia i fenomeni di interferenza, diffrazione, polarizzazione della luce e tutti quei fenomeni per i quali non sono valide le ipotesi semplificative dell'ottica geometrica, ma per i quali \u00e8 necessario ricorrere alla descrizione del <b>carattere ondulatorio della luce come radiazione elettromagnetica.\u00a0<\/b>Per questo motivo l\u2019ottica \u00e8 pure considerata una branca dell\u2019elettromagnetismo, che descrive il comportamento e le propriet\u00e0 della luce e la sua interazione con la materia (<b>fotometria<\/b>).\n\nL'ottica studia il comportamento delle radiazioni con le <b>frequenze del visibile, dell\u2019infrarosso e dell\u2019ultravioletto<\/b>; tuttavia si incontrano fenomeni analoghi nelle frequenze dei raggi X, delle microonde, delle onde radio (o radiofrequenze) e di altre gamme della radiazione elettromagnetica.\nL'ottica tuttavia costituisce un settore piuttosto separato dalle comunit\u00e0 della fisica, possiede una sua propria identit\u00e0. Gli aspetti pi\u00f9 strettamente scientifici del settore spesso vengono fatti cadere sotto i termini di Scienza Ottica o Fisica Ottica, che tuttavia presentano marcate caratteristiche interdisciplinari con l\u2019ingegneria ottica, l\u2019ingegneria elettrica, la fisica, la psicologia, la medicina. Quella <b>dell\u2019ottico optometrista\u00a0<\/b>\u00e8 un\u2019arte ausiliaria delle professioni sanitarie. L\u2019ottico optometrista possiede competenze di <b>ottica, optometria, contattologia ed oftalmologia<\/b>, conosce le caratteristiche tecniche degli strumenti ottici e sa usare le apparecchiature necessarie a misurare la capacit\u00e0 visiva e a correggere i difetti della vista, cos\u00ec come i macchinari utilizzati per il taglio e la smerigliatura delle lenti. E\u2019 inoltre in grado di utilizzare gli strumenti informatici di ausilio al proprio lavoro, per archiviare e gestire i dati visivi dei pazienti.\n\n<b>LA FIGURA DELL'OTTICO OPTOMETRISTA IN SERI LUGANO<\/b>\nAllo Switzerland Eye Research Institute\u00a0<b>l\u2019ottico optometrista assiste il medico oculista\u00a0<\/b>nello svolgimento delle consulenze oftalmologiche, al momento di misurare la reale <b>capacit\u00e0 visiva\u00a0<\/b>di un paziente che necessita di nuovi occhiali o soprattutto in vista di un intervento di\u00a0<b>correzione di uno o pi\u00f9 difetti visivi<\/b>.
